Sonic Youth co-founder Thurston Moore has revealed during his recent appearance on Talkhouse podcast with the LCD Soundsystem band member Tyler Pope that he has recorded an entire techno album, which is currently unreleased.

Moore stated that the new record “[It]’s not gonna be under my name. I don’t want anyone to come to it with any preconceived idea, like: ‘This insufferable idiot just made a techno record?’ Forget about it.

Cool, right? Except for the fact that Moore has recently dissed the entire techno genre calling it “a braindead exercise of plastic sound” before adding: “I’m sorry, I actually really like a lot of techno, I think it really needs to be discussed in a more academic way than just as music for ding-dongs who like to snort coke and try to get laid, but they’re not going to so they’re just stuck with their shitty techno records… Have you heard my techno record?

So, as it turns out, Moore does actually really like techno. Now, all we got to do is wait for the release date of his techno record.
