A posthumous Frankie Knuckles single called ‘Carefree (I Am A Star)‘ has been released.

The song features the late Chicago house legend on both production and vocals, and is the first preview from the pioneering selector’s forthcoming Jackmaster 7 compilation. Knuckles started the Jackmaster series in 1987 on classic house label DJ International with a compilation featuring Adonis, Chip E. and Todd Terry.

A follow-up to the six legendary Jackmaster albums that were released between 1987 and 1991, the new installment will feature a number of singles and remixes set to be released in the coming weeks. More details are set to be revealed soon.

Founded in 1985, DJ International is known for releasing music from a host of Chicago house pioneers, including Marshall Jefferson, Farley “Jackmaster” Funk, Larry Heard, Tyree Cooper, Steve “Silk” Hurley and many more.

The new Frankie Knuckles single comes with two remixes, one from DJ International label head Rocky Jones and the other from Chicago’s Chip E.. Listen to ‘Carefree (I Am A Star)‘ below.
