More than 100 festivals have joined Keychange, “a pioneering international initiative which empowers women to transform the future of music and encourages festivals to achieve a 50:50 gender balance by 2022.

This pledge has been launched in February by UK nonprofit PRS Foundation, and initially, 45 major international music festivals signed up for it, including MUTEK, Worldwide Festival, Way Out West, Tallinn Music Week, Iceland Airwaves and Pop-Kultur.

Today Keychange has reached over 100 new additions, including Big Day Out, Bestival, Field Maneuvers, JazzFest, Rifflandia, MaMA Festival, Africa Oyé and Oxjam Camden.

It’s also important that this initiative is now being debated in the US where A2IM Indie Music Week hosted a Keychange discussion involving our partners from Canada and Reeperbahn Festival. I hope this milestone will encourage others to join in with this positive and increasingly popular movement for change,” said Vanessa Reed, PRS Foundation CEO at A2IM Indie Music Week in New York.
