Theo Parrish and his Sound Signature label have announced a new radio show focusing on music education in favour of the self-awareness and self-determination, called W.O.K.E.
The name stands for ‘We Only Keep Evolving‘. It has been created as a response to the lack of representation of people of color in today’s programming landscape. It is “intended to musically educate listeners of all ages, with an emphasis on youth and black and brown people.“, he says.
He then adds “We at Sound Signature wanted to produce a radio program that centers empowerment, history and the future. And want to make sure this music gets to OUR people“. In his announcement, he also invites community centers, youth workshops and education outlets to participate in the project.
