Thanks to the success of DJ acts like David Guetta, Diplo, Calvin Harris, Bob Sinclar, Martin Garrix and many others, and its recent explosion in the USA, electronic dance music (aka EDM) has significantly increased its sales in the last decade.

And producer and DJ Paul Oakenfold has just announced that the debut of the inaugural Electronic Music Awards is set for Thursday, September 21st in Los Angeles. The event will be exclusively streamed live from L.A.’ Downtown Arts District via Twitter.

Nominees are yet to be announced but the award show will include 11 different categories celebrating “the leading underground and commercial artists, creatives, executives, and visionaries shaping one of music and popular culture’s most rapidly expanding genres ” and be voted on by “leading advisers and executives within the electronic community.
