Chicago’s smartbar will be hosting a series of workshops as part of Daphne: A Women’s Movement In Dance Music.

Daphne: A Women’s Movement In Dance Music is a monthlong festival focusing on highlighting woman-identifying and genderqueer artists.

The events consist of free workshops open to the public. It will cover topics like artist promotion, DJ mechanics, queer religious figures and more.

Smartbar’s events kick off on March 3 with experimental musician Elysia Crampton. On March 23 industry veteran Fortune will be joined by Sassmouth and Ariel Zetina to share their experiences as promoters, entrepreneurs, and activists.

The final event at smartbar will deliver a DJ workshop where participants will learn basic skills with turntables, CDJs and laptop setups, beat matching and basics of mixing and EQing.

Daphne will also feature a series of club nights throughout the month at smartbar with artists like Nina Kraviz, The Black Madonna, Cassy, Octo Octa, Honey Dijon and more to come.
