Robert Concina, aka Robert Miles, has passed away at age 47.

Miles’s radio station OpenLab confirmed he died “after a courageous battle with stage four metastatic cancer”.

The Italian DJ became popular in 1996 for his iconic ‘Children’ track, which became one of the biggest dance music tracks of all time, selling more than 5 million copies all over the world. With the album ‘Dreamland’ the artist became famous on the international dance music scene, selling more than 1 million copies in Europe and 500 thousands in USA and Canada and winning a Brit Award.

He also eventually launched Open Lab, a Balearic radio station that leaned towards the same experimental sound.

His death was due to an unreported illness at the age of 47.

“The tragic news of the death of a very talented artist of our time, makes me incredulous and upset,” said his longtime friend, Joe T Vannelli. “I will miss the fights, brawls, criticism, judgements but especially your talent in finding sounds and melodies unparalleled.”
