Over 3.2 vinyl have been sold in 2016, a figure which hadn’t been reached in 25 years.

David Bowie’s ‘Blackstar’ topped the leading 10 list of records sold, contributing to a 53% per cent rise of sales compared to 2015, according to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).

Radiohead’s ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’ charted at quantity 4, with Prince & The Revolution’s ‘Purple Rain’ in at quantity 9.

1991 was the final time vinyl sales hit the three million mark and wax now represents 5 per cent of the albums industry.

BPI’s report also reveals there have been 45 billion streams final year.
