George Michael‘s first posthumous single premiered on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast show with Chris Evans yesterday, Thursday September 7th.

According to The Guardian, Chic leader Nile Rodgers was commissioned by the late Wham! – who died at age 53 last Christmas – to create a new version of an old b-side called “Fantasy“. Rodgers, who had played the remix during his summer tour with Chic, gives the track a pop funk makeover.

The song was originally included as a b-side on George’s “Freedom! ’90” single in the U.S and on the UK version of the single, “Waiting For That Day” in 1990.

The 2017 version of “Fantasy” will instead feature on a reissue of Michael’s “Listen Without Prejudice Vol 1” which will be released on October 20th alongside his MTV Unplugged performance recorded in London in 1996.

I hope we make the fans proud of the amount of love we put into it,” Rodgers has said on a tweet, “You SHOULD have mixed feelings. No one’s heart was dragged through emotional ambiguity more than mine. Tears, uncertainty, happiness & love”.
