In 1977, NASA and Carl Sagan launched a collection of vinyl records containing the sounds of life on Earth addressed to any intelligent lifeforms who might be around. Greetings in over 50 languages and classical masterpieces from Bach, Mozart and more have been sent, together with instructions on how to play these tracks.

To make the LP available to everyone, last year a Kickstarter campaign was launched by David Pescovitz of Boing Boing to raise the funds to release copies.

Seeing the success of the campaign, ‘The Voyager Golden Record‘ is coming out via OZMA Records on December 1st as a set of two CDs. An extensive 3LP box set will follow in February. Both editions feature remastered audio and liner notes from Timothy Ferris, who produced the original LP.
