MUTEK, the international festival of digital creativity and electronic music, is officially landing for the first time in the US, with a new San Francisco edition confirmed to debut on May 3rd-6th 2018.
Co-directed by Surefire Agency founder Miroslav Wiesner and Gabrielle de Villoutreys, the new festival is currently calling for submissions and proposals from US-resident artists on its Facebook page.
“The intersection of art, music, and technology combined with the adaptive nature of the city, its accessible size, the concentration of ideas and its constant supply of curious travelers make San Francisco an ideal location for the first American MUTEK edition,” stated Wiesner. “The community needs this now more than ever as the old and the new establish their coexistence and find connections in culture and expression.”
The first rumour of a San Francisco edition previously came from a MUTEK representative, who teased it with an Instagram post last September (you can see it here).
It’s the latest in a series of new expansions for the festival, which has also announced Dubai and Buenos Aires editions this year.
The first line-up announcement and venues for MUTEK SF will be unveiled soon. Stay tuned for more updates!
